Dr. J. Zoe Rapoport is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York specializing in treating women’s health and gender issues, life transitions, relationship struggles, and anxiety. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. During her training, Dr. Rapoport has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, outpatient private clinics, community and college mental health centers, and private practices. Dr. Rapoport completed her APA accredited internship at the Brooklyn Veteran's hospital, where she worked with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, especially those with a history of traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and medical disorders.

While at the VA, she spent a significant amount of time in a women's clinic, where she developed women's workshops to specifically address the unique struggles that women veterans experience in the military. She was trained in neuropsychological assessment, specifically with clients experiencing traumatic head injury and age-related cognitive decline. She continues to regularly perform both neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations for both adults and children privately and on a consultation basis. While primarily trained psychodynamically and psychoanalytically, she utilizes a variety of techniques including Cognitive-Behavioral, Mindfulness, Progressive Relaxation, and Interpersonal techniques, combining them in an integrative fashion to provide individualized treatment for each client, identifying specific conflicts and needs.

Dr. Rapoport believes in a holistic approach to treatment that takes into consideration the many interrelated parts of the human being (biological, emotional, cognitive, relational, cultural, and spiritual). She creates a warm, open environment to explore and expand on character strengths and goals, encourage healing and increase a sense of agency and empowerment.
