Email Categories

To make sure you’re only getting the types of emails from WMHC that you want to receive, we’ve tweaked the email categories, so they are clearer, as outlined below. When you send an email through the WMHC platform, you’re asked to pick what category the email falls under so that only members who want to receive emails in that category will get it in their inbox.

If you want to opt-out of receiving any type of email, scroll toward the bottom of this page for instructions about how to opt-out of any or all email categories.

To help you pick the right category, here they are, with examples:

Mental Health Referrals

We have renamed this category, which is now specifically when looking for a mental health provider. In the subject heading, please specify the state (or geographic area if in person), type of clinician and expertise wanted (e.g., therapist who treats eating disorders, trauma-focused), and insurance carrier or self-pay. Below are some examples:

    • ISO CT Cigna therapist for depression
    • ISO Financial District in-person therapist, self-pay, anxiety
    • ISO NJ Aetna psychiatrist

This way, members can quickly scan subject headings to determine whether to open emails.

Non-Mental Health Referrals

We have renamed this category, which is now specifically for when looking for a health provider who is NOT a mental health clinician. In the subject heading, please specify the state (or geographic area if in person), type of clinician wanted, and anything else relevant (e.g., GYN good with trauma survivors). Below are some examples:

  • ISO Bergen County NJ dentist
  • ISO NYC Chiropractor for TMJ
  • ISO Midtown internist good with trauma survivors

This way, members can quickly scan subject headings to determine whether to open emails.

Non-Clinical Referrals

Use this category when looking for some other type of referral that is not clinical (e.g., accountant, babysitter, attorney). As with the clinical referrals, please specify the geographic requirements and type of occupation you are looking for in the subject heading. Examples:

  • ISO NY Divorce Lawyer
  • ISO Bergen county NJ babysitter
  • ISO Brooklyn gentle dentist
  • ISO insurance biller

Announcements, Resources and Recommendations

Use this category if you are announcing or looking for clinically- or professionally-relevant information, such as upcoming trainings, groups or workshops. Use this to make new member introductions, and to recruit therapists for specific populations (ie seeking low-fee therapists to treat uninsured immigrants). In addition, use this if you are recommending or seeking books, articles or other resources on a particular topic. Please put the relevant info in the subject heading. (Note: Job postings is a separate category.)

Clinical Discussion

Use this category for other clinically-related questions, information, resources, or conversation that don’t fit in the above categories. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.

Note: If you include any clinical information related to a client, remember not to include potentially identifying information and as little information as needed to address the question or concern. If you want actual consultation from members, for confidentiality purposes, we recommend you use telephone or video, rather than email via the WMHC platform, which is open to all members.

Insurance/Billing

Use this category for specific questions, advice, or information about insurance and billing matters. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.

Office Space

Use this category if you are offering or searching for office space. Please put the relevant information in the subject heading.

Jobs

Use this category if you are posting or searching for work opportunities. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.

Off Topic

Use this category for anything not listed above. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.
