Email Categories

Using the appropriate category allows members to quickly scan the subject headings and determine whether or not to open.

Please read and become familiar with the Code of  Conduct about specific requirements and prohibitions when posting to WMHC. 

 When responding to emails, please reply ONLY if your practice fits ALL the requests stated in the post.  For example, if someone posts ISO CIGNA therapist, do not respond if you don’t take CIGNA.  If someone posts ISO EMDR provider, don’t respond unless you are trained in that modality.  Finally, if someone posts ISO Upper West Side anxiety, sliding fee, don’t respond if you are virtual only, in a different neighborhood and unable to offer a lower fee.

To help you pick the right category, here they are, with examples:

New Member Introductions

Members new to WMHC may introduce themselves and their practice specialties.
This may be done ONE TIME ONLY.

ISO Mental Health Providers

Use this category when looking for a mental health provider. In the subject heading, please specify the state (or geographic area if in person), type of clinician and expertise wanted (e.g., therapist who treats eating disorders, trauma-focused), and insurance carrier or self-pay (if you know the specific fee, please state). Below are some examples:

  • ISO CT Cigna therapist for depression
  • ISO Financial District in-person therapist, self-pay, anxiety
  • ISO NJ Aetna psychiatrist
  • ISO NJ Child Therapist, sliding fee $200 or less

ISO Medical/Health Care Provider

Use this category when looking for a health provider who is NOT a mental health clinician. In the subject heading, please specify the state (or geographic area if in person), type of clinician wanted, and anything else relevant (e.g., GYN good with trauma survivors). Below are some examples:

  • ISO Bergen County NJ dentist
  • ISO NYC Chiropractor for TMJ
  • ISO Midtown internist good with trauma survivors

ISO Other Professional Service Providers

Use this category when looking for some other type of referral that is not clinical (e.g., accountant, babysitter, attorney). As with all requests, please specify the geographic requirements and type of occupation you are looking for in the subject heading. Below are some examples:

  • ISO NY Divorce Lawyer
  • ISO Bergen county NJ babysitter
  • ISO Brooklyn gentle dentist
  • ISO insurance biller

Info About Professional Trainings, Workshops and Individual or Group Consultation or Supervision

This category is not to be used for promotion except as follows: Use this category to announce or seek professional trainings, workshops, and individual or group consultation.  Please put relevant information in the subject heading, such as type of workshop, in-person location or virtual, clinical or otherwise.

YOU MAY POST ONCE PER MONTH PER OFFERING. To clarify, each post should be about a NEW workshop or group. Each offering may only be posted once (this means no “2 spots open” posts).. Below are some examples:

  • ISO consultation group, in person, focusing on addictions - Manhattan or Brooklyn
  • New DBT training group (for clinicians), virtual, starting next month.

Info About Workshops and Groups for Clients

This category is not to be used for promotion except as follows: Use this category to announce  MEMBER-LED workshops or groups, or to seek educational workshops, support groups, or therapy groups for CLIENTS. Please put relevant information in the subject heading, such as type of workshop, in-person location or virtual, clinical or otherwise.

YOU MAY POST MEMBER-LED WORKSHOPS AND GROUPS ONCE PER MONTH PER NEW OFFERING. To clarify, each post should be about a NEW workshop or group. Each offering may only be posted once (this means no “2 spots open” posts). Do not post on behalf of non-members. Promoting non-member-led workshops does not align with our Code. You may of course respond directly to members seeking workshops with non-member-led opportunities that fit the criteria of the ISO.Below are some examples:

  • 6-Week Support Group for New Mothers starting June 15, virtual
  • DBT Skills Group for Clients starting July 1, In-Person Manhattan

Members’ Community Meet Ups

Use this category if you are organizing a Meet Up and want to reach out to ALL members who receive emails in this category. Note: If you are organzing or hosting a meet up and want to communicative with thoes who have RSVP-ed, you should email those members directly from your email to theirs. Please do NOT send email to respondants (and the rest of our membership) through  through WMHC.

Seeking/Offering Written or Online Resources and Recommendations

Use this category if you are seeking or recommending books, articles, online videos or other resources on a particular topic.  Please put the relevant info in the subject heading. Post about a given resource or recommendation only once. (Note: Job Postings is a separate category).  Below are some examples:

  • ISO books on divorce for tweens
  • ISO adult ADHD resources
  • ISO articles or videos about polyamory
  • Recommending newly published book on treating DID

Clinical Discussion

Use this category for other clinically-related questions, information, resources, or conversation that don’t fit in the above categories. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.

Note: If you include any clinical information related to a client, remember not to include potentially identifying information and as little information as needed to address the question or concern. If you want actual consultation from members, for confidentiality purposes, we recommend you use telephone or video, rather than email via the WMHC platform, which is open to all members.

Insurance/Billing

Use this category for specific questions, advice, or information about insurance and billing matters. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.

Office Space

Use this category if you are offering or searching for office space. Please put the relevant information in the subject heading.

You may only post ONCE PER MONTH in this category. If you have multiple offices for rent, please combine them in one post.

Jobs

Use this category if you are posting or searching for work opportunities. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.  If you are posting a job opening, please note that employers advertising most jobs in New York City must include a good faith salary range for every job.

Off Topic

Use this category for anything not listed above. Please have the subject heading give members enough information so they can decide whether to open the email.
